Product Details

Features
  • Flexible fluorescence spectrometer with multiple data collection modes including fluorescence, phosphorescence, chemiluminescence, bioluminescence, and time resolved phosphorescence.
  • Robust and reliable performance, backed up by a 10-year lamp life guarantee (for new Cary Eclipse fluorescence spectrometer systems purchased from Agilent or participating partners).
  • Low cost-of-ownership due to the guaranteed long lifetime of the Cary Eclipse fluorometer lamp. This also eliminates the need for lamp replacements, a time-consuming and hazardous waste-producing technical operation.
  • Easy-to-use Cary WinFLR software suitable for novice and expert users alike. Easily switch between measurement modes without touching the hardware, and quickly get reliable, accurate results.
  • Room light immunity provided by the unique design of the Cary Eclipse fluorescence spectrometer allows the instrument to operate with the front and top panels removed—for easy access to samples and fast installation of large accessories, expanding analytical capabilities.
  • Performance and sensitivity that you need right across the fluorescence spectrum due to high-sensitivity optics and detectors.
  • High throughput laboratories and fast kinetics applications are well suited to the Cary Eclipse fluorometer, as its xenon flash lamp allows the instrument to capture a data point every 12.5 ms, and scan at 24,000 nm/min without peak shifts.
  • Sampling flexibility enables a wide range of fluorescence applications, with accessories available for every sample type—liquids, solids, and powders. Polarizers and temperature control are also available.
  • Inherent protection from photodegradation, as the Cary Eclipse fluorometer only illuminates the sample when data is actually being acquired. This protects your valuable samples so you can measure them repeatedly and get the same, reliable results.

How It Works

Cary Eclipse—the power of xenon

The Cary Eclipse fluorescence spectrometer features a xenon lamp, producing 80 powerful flashes per second for a minimum of 10 years—guaranteed. Samples are only illuminated during data acquisition, preserving the integrity of photosensitive molecules. The Cary Eclipse has been optimized to provide excellent sensitivity across the UV and visible regions—ideal for life science, and other applications.

Cary Eclipse—masters the diversity of real-world applications

The Cary Eclipse is ideal as a routine fluorescence instrument but can also be adapted to ever-changing application needs. Easy switching between fluorescence, phosphorescence, chemiluminescence, and bioluminescence measurement modes is achieved via the easy-to-use Agilent Cary WinFLR software. The fluorometer can also be equipped with a selection of sampling accessories, including a microplate reader, automatic polarizers, fiber-optic probes, and more.

Cary Eclipse—immune to room light

The room light immunity of the Cary Eclipse fluorescence spectrometer enables measurements with an open sample compartment. This simplifies operation (e.g., when adding reagents), and reduces the risk of compromised data due to handling mistakes. The fluorometer can be equipped with fiber-optic probes for remote measurements, and measurements without the need of cuvettes.

Applications

Bio(pharma) research

The Cary Eclipse fluorescence spectrometer can be equipped with a microplate reader that enables high-throughput measurements. This combination can be used to screen many samples to, e.g., identify aggregated biomolecules such as monoclonal antibodies.

Life science research

Life science applications benefit from the versatility of the Cary Eclipse fluorometer, with the ability to perform kinetics measurements, detect intracellular ion concentrations, analyze the rotational motion of molecules using polarizing filters, and to finely control sample temperatures for protein and peptide analysis. In addition, the xenon flashlamp only illuminates the sample when data is being acquired, preserving photosensitive samples.

Chemicals and energy

The Cary Eclipse is ideal as a routine fluorescence instrument but can also be adapted to ever-changing application needs. Room light immunity means that there is no restriction on sample size or shape. It also allows the use of fiber optics to measure emission from the surface of a solid, like the analysis of optical brighteners in laundry detergents, or from a liquid such as the analysis of petroleum oils in water.
