Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) Information

What is GC-MS? GC/MS combines two analytical tools to identify and measure the concentration of chemicals found in foods, consumer products, pharmaceuticals, fuels, the environment, and more.

How It Works

HydroInert source designed for Hydrogen carrier gas applications

Helium (He) is a finite, expensive resource. On the contrary, hydrogen (H2) is a low cost, renewable gas and the best alternative to He for GC/MS. The new Agilent HydroInert source prevents disruptions due to He shortages without compromising spectral fidelity, and it avoids undesirable in-source chemistry associated with H2 carrier gas. The source minimizes loss in sensitivity and offers superior high-boiler peak shape, especially for PAHs. An example is the analysis of nitrobenzene that is known to have problems with hydrogenation.

Applications

The right analytical performance for any sample

The Agilent 5977C GC/MSD provides accurate analytical measurements and allows labs to improve sample throughput, while spending less time servicing GC/MS equipment. It is built for labs that focus on robust methods for testing a multitude of analytes in often complex matrices, including pesticides in food, SVOC, VOCs or PAHs in water, phthalates in materials, and residual solvents in pharmaceuticals.
